Sweet Holiday Treats with a Global Impact: A local Chocolate Shop with a big picture that keeps getting bigger.

As we move forward into the holiday season, Laughing Moon Chocolates continues to expand upon the handmade chocolates with a bigger picture mission. Laughing Moon Chocolates has forged two new partnerships with Nyaya Health and Himalayan Cataract Project-non-profits bringing health services to the developing world. Nyaya Health is dedicated to building a data-driven health care system that works for Nepals rural poor. Since its inception in 2008, Nyaya Health has treated 101,000 patients, employed 155 Nepalis and received $105,000 in investments from the Nepali Government.

The Himalayan Cataract Project is committed to curing treatable blindness, providing the highest quality care at the lowest possible price. HCP is bringing care to the Himalayas, home to the highest rate of cataract blindness in the world, and to sub-Saharan Africa. Laughing Moon Chocolates has created two exclusive dark chocolate barks to be sold in support of these organizations.

The Like Water for Chocolates program will move forward into its fourth year this holiday season, with a goal of selling 1000 boxes of handmade turtles and caramels. The program supports A Childs Rights mission of delivering clean, safe drinking water to the worlds most vulnerable populations.

Locally, Laughing Moon Chocolates in partnership with the Crossett Brook and Thatcher Brook PTOs continues production of The Waterbury Bar; a solid milk chocolate bar which is being sold as an ongoing fund raiser to benefit Waterbury schools.

The foundation of two new partnerships and continued growth with existing charitable programs supports owner Leigh Williams mission to create delicious chocolates made by hand with the big picture in mind.
